The chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC) Lagos State chapter, Ayoyinka Oni, has called on Nigerians to wake up and take action against the Lagos State government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over poor governance.
Oni in a statement issued on Sunday, regretted that people had not realised APC was not a political party but a “Mafia group” that is not accountable to the people.
Lamenting the level of decay the APC-led Lagos administration has bequeathed, the African Action Congress (AAC) chieftain said, "Lagos state is doing so bad, compared to the resources and opportunities it has access to. The reason is because we have visionless men in the office who are drunk with power, corrupt, full of impunity and busy doing business for themselves and their families instead of good governance."
He maintained that Lagos has so many bad roads while so many schools are without classrooms and chairs and healthcare at the lowest among others, a development he attributes to impunity in governance.
He said, "I am surprised people are surprised about this. APC is not a political party, but a Mafia group. No sane political party does all this rascality in power. This is the legacy Bola Ahmed Tinubu left in Lagos and all that came after him followed suit.
"Apart from the wicked capitalist oppression, impunity, police brutality and corruption that goes on in Lagos, one of the most irritating aspects of APC's politics in Lagos for years is the zero accountability and mismanagement of public funds.
"They are totally accountable to no one. And they are all in on it, from the executive to the legislature to the commissioners and secretaries, even the judiciary creates laws to protect them.
"It is irresponsibility everywhere, from the local government to the state level. Even the taxes collected by thugs daily on behalf of the government, till date are never accounted for. Any state you see people collecting money on the street like it is done in Lagos, is not practising any governance but mafia rule and rascality."
He added, "It is now surprising to me that pathetic members of APC online instead of speaking to the issues are turning attention to praising the manner @funsodoherty the candidate of ADC in the last election, addressed the issue.
"Lagos state is doing so bad, compared to the resources and opportunities it has access to. The reason is because we have visionless men in the office who are drunk with power, corrupt, full of impunity and busy doing business for themselves and their families instead of good governance. They do some peanut project and do a loud ovation like it is anything special.
“One day we would discuss the massive corruption in the railway project. @jidesanwoolu we await your denials, excuses or lies concerning this wicked budget.
"When we have so many bad roads in Lagos. So many schools with no classrooms. So many classrooms with no chairs. Health care is poor and more. Workers are not well paid and more.
"We don't advise Lagosians to start writing letters but rise up and revolt at every one of your budgets, policies and decisions that are full of greed and don't favour the people.
"Lagosians, Alausa Secretariat does not belong to Sanwo-Olu, it is for you. Go there and occupy the place until he does the right thing or he resigns."
