Nasarawa House Of Assembly Gets New Speaker, Deputy After Appeal Court Ruling

Members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly have unanimously elected, Danladi Jatau, representing Kokona West Constituency as Speaker of the House.

The House also elected Mohammed Oyanki, member representing Doma North Constituency as the Deputy Speaker.

SaharaReporters had reported that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja sacked the former Nasarawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Ibrahim Balarabe.

The Court on Tuesday also declared Abdullahi Sa’ad of the Peoples Democratic Party as the authentic winner of the March 18, 2013 speakership election in the state.

It was earlier reported that there had been a fierce battle between the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, who is representing Umaisha Ugya constituency in the state assembly and, Daniel Ogah Ogazi, representing Kokona East constituency respectively over speakership tussle.

The crisis in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly had led to the emergence of two speakers.
