The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Gabriel Gabkwet, stated this in the military reaction to an incident of air strike on civilians in the state.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has stated that it has not carried out any air operations within Kaduna State and environs in the last 24 hours, adding that it is not the only organisation operating combat armed drones in the North western region of Nigeria.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Gabriel Gabkwet, stated this in the military reaction to an incident of air strike on civilians in the state.

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the NAF on Sunday allegedly killed scores of worshippers celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Maulid Nabiyy) in a community called, Tundun Biri in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, according to a social activist and former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani.

Sani had added that the Muslim worshippers were killed by Aerial bombardments by the Nigerian Air Force operatives.

Posting on his verified X profile, he had said, “The translation of this post reveals that scores of people were killed yesterday by Ariel bombardment during a religious festival in a village near the Kaduna Airport. Clarification is needed CC  @NigAirForce @DefenceInfoNG.”

In its reaction, the NAF said, “The news making the rounds alleging that Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft accidentally killed innocent civilians in Kaduna is false. Please be informed that the NAF has not carried out any air operations within Kaduna State and environs in the last 24 hours. Also, note that the NAF is not the only organization operating combat armed drones in the North western region of Nigeria.”

SaharaReporters had in July 2022 reported that a fighter jet operated by the Nigerian Air Force bombed Kunkuna village in the Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing scores of residents.

“A military jet earlier today dropped airstrikes on Kunkuna Village in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State. We cannot confirm the number of casualties now,” a source had said.

In 2020, a military jet deployed to repel an attack by Boko Haram dropped a bomb that landed in a compound where civilians were having child christening.
