Tinubu had earlier ordered the arrest and prosecution of the ‘illegal miners’ who were reportedly responsible for the deadly explosion that occurred in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Tuesday night.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has delivered the report on last Tuesday's explosion at Dejo Oyelese Close, Adeyi Avenue, Bodija, Ibadan to President Bola Tinubu.
Makinde was at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja over the weekend to give the report to the president.
Tinubu had earlier ordered the arrest and prosecution of the ‘illegal miners’ who were reportedly responsible for the deadly explosion that occurred in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Tuesday night.
The President issued the order last Wednesday while commiserating with the victims of the explosion.
SaharaReporters had reported how Governor Makinde stated that a preliminary inquiry found that the explosion was caused by explosives placed in a residence occupied by illegal miners in the city's Bodija neighbourhood.
President Tinubu in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, expressed sadness over the devastating explosion.
Ngelale had quoted President Tinubu as saying, "It is worrisome that the cause of the blast is being attributed to the activities of illegal miners. Those behind the inexcusable and reckless behaviour that has created the conditions for the sad incident to occur must be fished out and punished."
A popular hotel in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, BON Hotel Nest had also confirmed the death of its manager identified as Tunde Solomon after he suffered a heart attack in the explosion that rocked the metropolis on Tuesday night.
This was confirmed in a press statement issued by the hotel management via their Instagram page, alleging that Mr Solomon died on Wednesday and his death was a result of a deadly explosion which happened on Tuesday night.
