Ejiofor in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday said that it is devastating and heart-wrenching to see how Nigerian soldiers and others destroy properties of innocent civilians in the South-East under the guise of fighting insecurity in the region.

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, counsel for the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has berated the Nigerian Army and security agencies for what he described as deliberate wanton and reckless destruction of properties of civilians in the South-East region of the country.

Ejiofor in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday said that it is devastating and heart-wrenching to see how Nigerian soldiers and others destroy properties of innocent civilians in the South-East under the guise of fighting insecurity in the region.

He questioned what structures (houses and markets) which have been burnt down at one point or other by the soldiers and other security agents in the region had to do with the activities of criminals.

Ejiofor asked President Bola Tinubu’s government to immediately caution the military and security agencies.

The lawyer said he was tempted to believe that the actions of the security agents were deliberately designed to destroy the economic activities of the entire South East before eliminating them.

The lawyer said, “It is devastating, and heart wrenching to say the least, that Nigerian security agents will embark on wanton, mindless and reckless destruction of properties of innocent civilians under the guise of fighting insecurity.

“What has these structures and hard earned resources of already impoverished citizens of the South East, who are struggling to make ends meet under this excruciating and disastrous harsh economic realities got to do with the activities of the alleged criminals?

“Internationally recognised rules of engagement have been thrown to the wind.

“I want to resist the temptation of interpreting these heinous and wicked actions of Nigerian Soldiers, as a deliberate clandestine design to completely destroy economic activities of the entire south east before eliminating them.

“Enough is Enough and the Federal Government of Nigeria must call these marauders to order now, and without further ado.”
