Fifty-nine-year-old Muhammad Abubakar has been arrested by the police for acting as a ghost to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

 

Abubakar who was accused of being a serial fraudster allegedly used the trick to defraud several people. He is said to have mastered the art of twisting his tongue to make different sounds.

He was reportedly arrested on February 5, 2024, after defrauding one Abba Bale of the sum of N300,000, according to the spokesperson for the police in Adamawa State, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

 

"Adamawa State Police Command on 5/2/2024 arrested a 59-year-old man for frequently defrauding members of the public.

"The suspect Muhammad Abubakar, aka Malam Sabo is said to be a habitual 419 who specializes in defrauding members of the public in a disguised manner.

 

"Mostly, the suspect hides his identity pretending to be a ghost talking to his victims with different voices.

 

"The suspect, at times changes his voice sound to that of a woman or child to dupe his victims. Recently he tricked and duped one Abba Bale of Demsawo the sum of three hundred thousand naira (N300,000)," Nguroje said.

 

Nguroje said Abubakar would be charged in court after the completion of the police investigation.
