One Uba, a suspected member of a local criminal gang, 'Shila Boys' has been stabbed to death in Adamawa State, SaharaReporters can report.

The incident happened at Government Day Secondary School, Demsawo in Yola, the state capital, according to sources.

An eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity said the 'Shila Boys' cult had stormed the school and attacked teachers and students and also damaged properties, including vehicles.

However, a local vigilante group engaged the group and one of the cult members was stabbed in the stomach, leading to his death on the spot.

As gathered, the cult members attacked the school in protest of the arrest of one of their members by the vigilantes attached to the school.

They were said to have attacked one of the vigilantes, Nasiru Abdullahi, with machetes and while defending himself, he used the knife he had snatched from one of them to stab Uba to death.

The spokesperson for the police in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Friday.

He said, "One Muhammadu Musa and Nasiru Abdullahi have been taken into custody in connection to the crime."

SP Nguroje said the command was doing everything possible to get other suspected 'Shila boys' arrested for investigation and prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.
