15-Year-Old Student Electrocuted In Government School In Nigerian Capital, Abuja While Fetching Water

A police signal seen by SaharaReporters stated that the incident happened while the deceased was trying to fetch water.

A 15-year-old student of the Government Science Secondary School, Pyakasa/Maitama in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja has been electrocuted. 

SaharaReporters gathered that the student identified as Meshach Ogwuche Agaba was electrocuted on Wednesday at about 7:30am.

The incident happened around the water tap closed to wall with barb wire in the school premises. 

Meshach was rushed to Maitama district hospital for treatment, where he was later confirmed dead by doctors. 

A police signal seen by SaharaReporters stated that the incident happened while the deceased was trying to fetch water. 

"Meshach was trying to fetch water but slipped and about to fall down, in the process, he struggled and held on to the barb wire that suspectedly have contact with naked electric cable," a police source said. 

The spokesperson of FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Friday. 

"Yes, it's true, investigation is ongoing," She said.
