Troops Killed Two Terrorists In Taraba, Recovered Arms, Ammunition During Fierce Clash, Says Nigerian Army

Nigerian Army has said its troops neutralised two insurgents during a clash with violent extremists on Thursday in the Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State.

 

According to a statement issued on Friday, which was on its official X handle, the Nigerian Army said the terrorists were engaged by troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army in what it described as a fierce confrontation.

 

According to the statement, the troops while acting on intelligence received information about the presence of armed groups in Nayinaya, Garin Daniel and Garbatau areas of the Bali area. The troops reportedly promptly launched a proactive combat patrol to pursue the extremists.

 

"Upon encountering the armed groups, the troops effectively utilized their superior firepower, resulting in the elimination of two extremists and the successful recovery of Two AK-47 Rifles, Four AK-47 Magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62 MM Special Ammunition," it said.

 

It noted that the successful engagement exemplifies the unwavering dedication and resilience of the Brigade in upholding peace and security in Taraba State and its environs.

 

"The residents and the general public are therefore assured that the troops of 6 Brigade remain steadfast in their commitment to rooting out all criminal elements from the state until total peace and security is restored to the general area," the statement noted.

 

Meanwhile, the Commander 6 Brigade has commended the troops for their swift response and urged the public to provide timely information to enable the troops to completely clear the area from all forms of criminal activities.
