SaharaReporters learnt that Abubakar's defiling and murder took place on Thursday at Anguwan Layin Isyaku Gwamna, in the Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
The Nigerian police have confirmed that a nine-year-old girl, Fatima Abubakar, was defiled and murdered in Plateau State, northern Nigeria.
SaharaReporters learnt that Abubakar's defiling and murder took place on Thursday at Anguwan Layin Isyaku Gwamna, in the Jos North Local Government Area of the state.
Parents and neighbours were terrified and thrown into confusion to find the minor's lifeless body dangling in a dilapidated building in the neighbourhood.
"She was sexually assaulted and subsequently killed. Whoever may have done this to my daughter must face the consequences of his actions," the mother of the victim, Sa'adatu Abubakar said while sobbing.
It was gathered that the kid was sent to purchase cooking oil at a nearby shop but she did not return home.
"She went to buy a bottle of groundnut oil at about 11am but couldn't return. After a long while her elder sister, Hafsat was asked to go look for her only to find her body hinging in a dilapidated building," the deceased girl's father, Abubakar narrated.
The spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred who confirmed the incident said "It's true but I cannot speak further because of where I am, please call me later."
