The suspension letter dated March 31, 2024 was signed by the APC chairman and secretary of Badarawa/Malali ward, Ali Maishago and Zakkah Bassahuwa respectively.

The All Progressives Congress has suspended its Kaduna State Women Leader, Hajiya Maryam Suleiman (Mai Rusau) from the party for gross misconduct.

The suspension letter dated March 31, 2024 was signed by the APC chairman and secretary of Badarawa/Malali ward, Ali Maishago and Zakkah Bassahuwa respectively.

They accused the women leader of defaming the character of Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State through a viral video clip released on March 30 via Facebook and some other social media platforms.

Governor Sani, on Saturday, lamented the huge debt inherited from his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, on May 29, 2023.

Sani said the state was now left with insufficient funds, not enough to pay salaries. He added that his administration inherited a total of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contract liabilities from the ex-governor.

Despite this, Sani said he had yet to borrow money in the last nine months of his government, noting that the huge debt burden was eating deep into the state’s federal allocation.

The governor made this known while addressing a Town Hall Meeting at the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall, Kaduna.

But Maryam Suleiman, who is reportedly an ally of former Governor El-Rufai, in the controversial video criticised Governor Sani for his remarks against his predecessor.

The suspension letter obtained by SaharaReporters on Sunday reads: “The Badarawa/Malali Ward APC Executive Committee after due deliberations and careful examinations on the viral video clip released on 30th March, 2024 via social networks; Facebook, WhatsApp, and Tiktok which is against the constitution of our dear party APC as stated in article 21.2 (v).

“In view of the above, below are the gross misconducts where the subsequent suspension relied upon:

“Deformation (sic) of character of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State Malam Uba Sani.

“Unauthorized publicity of the party dispute that discredited the personality of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State.

“Furthermore, from today Sunday 31st of March, 2024, the leadership of APC Badarawa/Malali Ward unanimously resolved to suspend Hajiya Maryam Suleiman (Mai Rusau) from the Party pending further investigation on the matter from the constituted authority.”
