Two Suspects Arrested For Killing 200-Level Delta University Female Student Say They Were Promised N30,000 By Native Doctor

A police statement said the victim’s father, Edward Omodon reported the disappearance of his daughter to Abudu Division in Edo State.

The police in Edo State, south-south Nigeria have arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of a 200-level student of Delta State University, Faith Omodon.

 

Omodon went missing on April 1, 2024. The student of DELSU in Agbor had gone to the farm around Ewohon/Uwemen communities in Edo State with “a Lifan CG 125 motorcycle and never returned”, the police said.

 

A police statement said the victim’s father, Edward Omodon reported the disappearance of his daughter to Abudu Division in Edo State.

 

It said, “After a preliminary investigation was conducted by Abudu Division the case was transferred to State CID, Benin.

 

“The State CID operatives while collaborating with the vigilantes group arrested two suspects, Godspower Chukwuedo, 23 years and Christopher Nwachukwu, 22 years. The suspects made statements to the police and confessed that they were being sent by one Chukwuyem Jonah, 26 years, a native doctor who lives in Iru community near Abudu, Edo State to go after Faith Omodon on the farm and kidnap her to enable them collect a ransom from her rich father with the promise of paying them #30,000.00.

 

“The suspects further confessed that they were resisted by Faith Omodon, and in the process they strangulated her to death. On 07/05/2024 at about 2100hrs the operatives stormed Iru Community and arrested the native doctor, Chukwuyem Jonah.

 

“Investigation has commenced in other to recover her corpse, and suspects process to court.

 

“The Commissioner of Police Edo State, CP Funsho Adegboye, mni advised parents and guardians to monitor their children anywhere they go and the kinds of friends they keep. He noted that the atmosphere is so dangerous these days.”
