Delta Residents Lament Terrible State Of Uromi-Agbor Road Where ‘Truck Drivers Spend 1-2 Weeks’

Residents of Agbor in the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State have lamented that their houses are collapsing as a result of gully erosion in the area.

They also lamented the terrible state of Uromi-Agbor Road.

According to residents, the road has been life-threatening for over four years and truck drivers spend one to two weeks on the road. They described it as a death trap for residents.

A source from the area said, “This is the poor state of Uromi-Road, Agbor for over 4 years now.

“This road leads to Igbanke, Uromi and other villages in Edo state. It is also the road that leads to the North.

“Most times, these caterpillars and trailers spend about 1-2 weeks on this road before they can successfully pass through.

“The trailers and caterpillars are always in a cue in their hundreds every day waiting patiently for their turn to pass. And these may take up to one or more weeks.”

Sharing photos of the road with SaharaReporters, the source said, “The picture shows the death trap of Agbor Tech Street. The street is just beside Agbor Technical College.

“It is a death for students, passersby, motorcycles, community residents, etc. Houses along the canal/gully are already collapsing into the gully.”

A civic technology platform, Monitng also decried the terrible state of the road, saying there have been recorded cases of accidents on the road.

The platform said that the road which is the major access road connecting Delta State to Northern Nigeria has completely become a death trap to users and people living along the area.

Posting photos of stuck trucks on the road, Monitng on its X account said, “This is the dilapidated state of Uromi-Agbor Road, Delta State where cases of accidents and 1-2 Weeks of lengthy traffic by road users.

“A major access road connecting Delta State to the North. The road is now a death trap.”

Calling on the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori to take necessary action on the road, Monitng said, “We urge you to expedite actions on the repair of the road.”
