Two persons, including a mobile police officer, were killed when suspected Boko Haram terrorists launched an attack on two military checkpoints in Borno State.

According to a source, the terrorists came in utility vehicles and set a hospital and police tents ablaze.

SaharaReporters had reported that two military checkpoints in Miringa village near Biu were attacked on Wednesday night. The terrorists opened fire on the troops, but were repelled after hours of exchanging gunfire with the security agents.

"A police officer lost his life. An elderly man also died of high blood pressure. The casualty figure from the military side is still unavailable. They burnt down the military checkpoints and also police tents. They also torched a local hospital,” the source, who is a vigilante, said.

He, however, said the troops dealt with the terrorists and went away with dead bodies.
