The PRP had declared its support for the AAC in the 2023 general elections as alliance talks between the two parties reached a climax.
The African Action Congress (AAC) has welcomed the announcement of support of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) for its (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, in the 2023 general elections.
The PRP had declared its support for the AAC in the 2023 general elections as alliance talks between the two parties reached a climax.
The AAC on Friday in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Femi Adeyeye, expressed excitement over the alliance, noting that the AAC-PRP alliance would not be like alliances involving former heads of state - Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Babangida which destroyed the country.

According to the AAC, "This announcement was made at the North-East retreat event of the PRP in Gombe, where the PRP Chairman, Comrade Abdulmajid Y. Daudu noted that "only PRP and AAC distinguish themselves from other parties" in genuinely fighting for the liberation of the exploited and oppressed working people and youths in Nigeria."
Representing the AAC at the event were the Bauchi State Chairman, Umar Yakubu, Bobo Benson of Gombe and the Deputy National Chairman (North East), John Nicodemus.
Adeyeye noted that formal agreements to the alliance were already underway.
"We want to assure Nigerians that more alliances with the AAC are being discussed and the greatest of all which is the alliance among the oppressed and in particular the 133 million of us living in multidimensional poverty, the thousands who have been displaced internally, those who cannot live in their ancestral communities due to insecurity, farmers who cannot go to farm anymore, herders who have lost their livelihood, the 33 percent of us who are unemployed, the 20 million out-of-school children.
"We have maintained that it is such an alliance and network that we seek in this urgent historical task of liberation, not that of General Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida or any of their allies who destroyed Nigeria," he said.
