President Tinubu Mourns Death Of Actors, Mr Ibu And Sisi Quadri

A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, on Sunday said the President received the news of their passing with “deep sadness”.

 

 

President Bola Tinubu has offered his condolences to the families of Nigerian actors – John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu and Quadri Oyebamiji, popularly known as Sisi Quadri.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, on Sunday said the President received the news of their passing with “deep sadness”.

The statement said, “President Tinubu condoles with the families of these gifted thespians who brought joy and relief to millions of Nigerians by the exercise of their geniuses.

 

 

 

“The President exhorts the bereaved to take solace in the truth that even though these beloved Nigerians have passed on, they will always live through their works which will remain an inspiration and a fount of good cheer for many.

 

“The President also commiserates with the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), and the entire creative community, assuring them of his support, thoughts, and prayers in this time of grief.

 

“President Tinubu prays for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and comfort for all those in mourning.”

Mr. Ibu passed on at 62 years old.

According to multiple reports from sources close to him, the veteran comedian passed on at Evercare Hospital.

SaharaReporters in December 2023 reported that Mr Ibu underwent another leg amputation and was barely able to talk, as revealed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

SaharaReporters in November reported that the family of Mr. Ibu revealed that the actor had undergone seven surgeries but to keep his hope of staying alive, one of his legs was amputated.

Sisi Quadri’s death was announced on Friday by some of his colleagues in the Yoruba movie industry.

Confirming his death, Nollywood actress, Abiola Bayo wrote on her verified Instagram handle, “You will be greatly missed, Sisi Quadri. May your soul rest in perfect peace.”

 

Quadri was born on December 25, 1979, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. He was a prominent Yoruba movie actor, specifically known for his contributions to Nigerian Nollywood films.

 

 

Around a decade ago, he embarked on his acting journey, and it was his role in the film "Seranko Seniyan" that earned him the moniker "Sisi Quadri."
