Sources told SaharaReporters that though Justice Babs O. Kuewumi of the Federal High Court in Ekiti granted Dele Farotimi's bail application on December 9, 2024, his release has been delayed due to bureaucratic hurdles.

The civic organisation decried the continued neglect of public welfare by government officials, claiming that their actions had entrenched poverty and subjected millions of Nigerians to unnecessary hardship.

Tankers that typically crowd the refinery’s premises were seen stranded, with 18 trucks parked along the busy access road and nine inside the parking yard.

The charges centre on allegations that Olamide Thomas insulted the President Bola Tinubu's son, Seyi and top police officials, including Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun and Police Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi, in a viral social media post.

The court is slated to give its ruling on the bail application filed by Farotimi today (Friday morning).

Farotimi arrived at the court premises amid heavy comprising police officers and other law enforcement agents.
